Exploring the new developing shopping district

"We are enthusiastic; it is unbelievable to see how much efforts are being put into the shopping city Böblingen." Together with their children, the parents are watching with excitement the new construction sites. Fascinated by the huge construction machinery many of our citizens are documenting the change with their own pictures.

And the best thing is: You can reach all existing shops in the city center easily by a short walk, buy the bus, the urban railway “S-Bahn” or by your own car. Plenty of Parking space is available.

Shopping in the old town “Schloßbergring”

A perfect starting point for your shopping experience is the “Kongresshalle” with underground parking. The elegant Alba-Bridge leads you directly into the old-town, with its stores, restaurants, cafés and cinemas. Taste a refreshing ice cream, or the wide variety of baked goods at traditional German bakeries or maybe some fresh sausages at the Butcher stores.

Well known shopping malls

Only a few steps away from the Elbenplatz or the bus/railway station, are large shopping malls, as well as the shopping street “Bahnhofstrasse”.

If you need it bigger, then try the “Hulb”

Large car dealer and furniture stores can be found in the industrial zone “Hulb”. So Böblingen can serve all of your shopping needs.

Regional Swabian cuisine, or would you rather prefer Italian?

Böblingen offers you a lot of international restaurants from all over the world. Due to the high amount of well integrated immigrants you will find authentic food made with pride. The original Swabian cuisine also offers a lot to choose from. Enjoy the Linsen & Spätzle (lentiles with Swabian noodles), or the Zwiebelrostbraten (onion Beefsteak), Maultaschen (Swabian Ravioli, pictured below), or Buabaspitzle (Swabian Gnocci) and experience the traditional food. Alternatively locals butchers offer a vast amount of different sausages and meats combine with a  freshly baked bun from the local bakery.

To make it a perfect experience we recommend tasting a local wine specialty or the beer from the local brewery in their own beer garden (pictured above). The Schönbuch Brewery  brews in Böblingen since 1823 and offers apart from their seasonal beers more then 10 different selections, which are all brewed in pride. Witness how the beer is brewed during the tour.

Thomas Heiling (Restaurant im Paladion) recently got awarded with three lions in the “taste the south” contest.

Fred Nestele offers local food with German Accordion music and is know as the “singing innkeeper”. You can hear him in the “Gasthaus Schwanen”.
