Driving licence - reapply after revocation
Has your driving licence been revoked by a court ruling or by the driving licence office? Would you like to drive a motor vehicle on the road again? Then you will need a new driving licence.
Attention: Driving licences issued from 19 January 2013ilicences are limited to 15 years. The time limit only applies to licencesstic licence. It must be renewed every 15 years. Regular medical examinations or other checks are not associated with the exchange of documents.

Prerequisite
You will not automatically receive a new driving licence. After your driving licence has been revoked or surrendered, the driving licence office will carefully check whether you are physically, mentally and in character fit to drive a motor vehicle again. For this purpose, it can, for example, order a medical report or a medical-psychological examination (MPU)
. As a rule, the same regulations apply to the re-issuing of a driving licence as to the initial issuing of a driving licence. You only need a new driving licence test if youno longer have theknowledge and skills required to drive a motor vehicle.
Procedure
You can apply for a new licence in person at the driving licence office in your place of residence. You can obtain the application form on site or, depending on the service, you can also download it or apply online.
Deadlines
You can submit the application at the earliest six months before the expiry of the court-ordered suspension period.
If the competent authority has revoked your driving licence because you have eight or more points in the driving aptitude register, you will receive a new driving licence at the earliest if the revocation of your driving licence has been effective for more than six months.
If the competent authority has revoked your driving licence because you have not complied with an order to attend an advanced training seminar issued as part of your probationary driving licence, you will only receive a new driving licence after attending an advanced training seminar.
Note: If you are banned from driving for a limited period of time, you will automatically receive your driving licence back at the end of this period.

- Proof that you fulfil the special requirements for your ability to drive
- Certificate of good conduct
- if necessary, a medical-psychological report to check whether you fulfil the special responsibility of transporting passengers

Miscellaneous
The judicial suspension period can be shortened if your driving licence has been revoked for driving under the influence of alcohol for the first time. If you are allowed to take part in a retraining course, you will receive an information sheet from the public prosecutor's office. This contains more detailed information on the conditions of participation and course organisers.
To take part in the course, you will need a "clearance certificate" from the driving licence office. You must not have committed any other traffic offences or criminal offences that call your suitability into question. If you have a blood alcohol level of 1.6 per mille or more, you must undergo a medical-psychological examination before starting the course. If you have a blood alcohol level of more than two per mille, you cannot take part in the course.
