Apply for a seasonal licence plate
Seasonal licence plates are intended for vehicles that you only use at certain times of the year, such as motorbikes, convertibles or motorhomes. This saves you having to frequently register and deregister your vehicle.
When registering the vehicle in your name, you specify the operating period during which you wish to use the vehicle. This can be between two and eleven months per year. Outside the operating period, you may not drive the vehicle on public roads and must park it away from public roads and squares on private property, for example in a garage.
Note: The operating period is indicated on the right-hand side of the licence plateias a fractional number. for example, "05/11" means that you may use the vehicle from May to November.
Insurance cover and the obligation to pay contributions are suspended in the periodroutside the operating period.
Responsible authority
The licensing authority in whose district you have your main residence, registered office or branch office.

Prerequisite
- You must not have any outstanding fees and expenses from previous registration processes. If you have overdue payments of more than EUR 30.00, theregistration authority maynot register your vehicle until you have paid them. If the arrears are less than EUR 30.00, theregistrationauthority candecide whether or not to register the vehicle.
- You must not have vehicle tax debts of EUR 5.00 or more. Late payment penalties, interest and late payment penalties are alsotaken into account when calculating the amount.
- If someone is to represent you when registering your vehicle, you must give this person written authorisation. This must also contain a declaration of consent that the registration authority may inform the authorised person about overdue fees and expenses. Your representative must present the authorisation and identify themselves.

You or your representative must apply for the seasonal licence plate at the relevant registration authority.

Please note: If you want to change the seasonal period, you will need a new insurance confirmation and new licence plates for the vehicle. You will not receive a different combination of letters or numbers. Exception: The combination behind the licence plate already has six digits.
